The white bellied spider monkey is a part of the spider monkey family. Meaning they have similar traits. They have long and slender limbs connected to mobile shoulder joints. The mobile shoulder joints is the reason they can swing from branch to branch hand-over-hand. Their thumbs are either absent small stump, which makes their hands hook-like hand that allows them to swing quickly.

  1. I didn't even know there was a spider monkey family! Why is it called the spider monkey? Is it similar to a spider and a monkey?

  2. In all honesty, the main reason they are called the spider monkey is becasue these monkies are actually large spiders. No just kidding. the two creatures have one similarity the limbs. although these monkeies do not have eight legs, their legs ar long and slinder. like those of a spider, I am pretty sure this is how they get their name.

  3. This is a very interesting animal, thought it would be very cool if it was actually a large spider. Are their feet the same way? It seems as if they are sort of webbed.
